In April 2025, Brazil's economy saw a significant rise in formal employment, adding 257,528 jobs, far surpassing market projections of 175,000 and increasing substantially from the 71,576 jobs added in March. This marks the most robust April performance since the inception of the current historical series in 2020, reflecting a 7.35% growth compared to April 2024. The services sector was the primary driver of job creation, contributing 136,109 positions, followed by commerce with an increase of 48,040 jobs, industry with 35,068, and construction adding 34,295 positions. Conversely, the agricultural sector saw a reduction, losing 4,025 jobs. Employment gains were reported across all states, with São Paulo adding 72,283 jobs, Minas Gerais 29,083, and Rio de Janeiro 20,031. Moreover, the average real wage in April increased to BRL 2,251.81, reflecting a BRL 15.96 rise compared to the previous month.
